6th graders, we have moved from South Africa and have traveled to India. We just finished watching Gandhi, the movie. One of Gandhi's most famous quotes is:
"When I despair, I remember that all throughout history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it-always"
Gandhi appeared to have shown truth and love throughout his whole life. Write about 3 moments from the movie that you observed in which he showed this truth and love. If you finish, you can write a reflection about what you think about Gandhi so far.

Hello my name is nelson mandela first when the officer told gandhi to stop burning the passbooks or he'll beat him,and Gandhi still did it."I will stop fast until killing of our people stops".second, when gandhi went to go make salt illigaly, he went to jail. finally, when gandhi was going to jail and he was on trail, he told the judge to give him the maxium sentance that is showing truth.

In the begganning when Gandhi took his passbook and through them into the fire. Even though he got hitand beat up he did not show any violence. Second, later on the movie Gandhi had a meeting with many hindu's and they through the clothes they bought from the united kingdom into a fire.
In the movie Ghandi he fights for the madness to end by fassing. He was telling the other hindues to burn there cloths that came from yhe factories so they will make there own cloths because they wanted to show the british they can do things on there own.Ghandi was also fighting by throwing away there passbooks that they had to carry every were with them so they can go in and go to places.
Inthe movie, Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi fights against injustice through truth and love. Many exmaples in the movie prove this fact. For example, When Gandhi was throwing the passbooks in the fire, he was getting hurt. Gandhi hated the voilence and he believed in fighting with words. Gandhi was a non-violent person. So Gandhi fasted and stopped eating until all the violence ended around India. Gandhi wanted to put an end to the hatred between Hindus and Muslims. He also wanted the British to leave. So he illegally marched to the beach to make salt without permission. Salt was made by the British, but Gandhi wanted Indians to have this privilege. ALl of these are examples of truth and love throughout the movie.
Gandhi was important because he was a leader to all people in India including hindus and muslims and without him they would lose faith in being free.in addition he made others believe they can be leaders to in the future.he was also an iinspiration to all children. taht is why mahatmaa gandhi is such an inspiration.

For example, Gandhi showed love in the movie when he told a Muslim that killed a Hindu boy, to go find a Hindu boy and raise him up as your own. In addition, when Gandhi was talking to a man in suit about how to stop India from going haywire, the man wanted to do it in a violent way.But Gandhi said, ''NO!'' I will fast, because he wanted to show love in a different way. Also, Gandhi stood for truth by standing up in jail and standing for truth and his rights. This is how Gandhi showed love and truth in the movie.
What I think About Gandhi,
I believe that Gandhi was a very highly respected man. In addition, I think Gandhi was very loyal, because in the movie Gandhi's wife was sick and said,'' Gandhi'' made a wedding vowl, and hasnt broke it since! Furthermore, Gandhi too me was a very smart, yet riskful man. After fasting for days, after India went haywire, even if it meant his life. Gandhi's life was not a vein.

Another example,is when Gandiji fasted because he wanted peace in India and between the Muslims, and the Hindus.
Finally, is when Gandiji did a speech against violence. he wants to stop violence against different races. so that it can be one love and one blood. So therefore Gandiji fought against violence in india.
In the movie Mahatma Gandhi fights againist injustice through truth and loVE. Maby examples are when he would fast to death until violence is not the way people should solve probelms but with words and speeches. Also Gandhi did a magnifant jod with going to South Africa and made a speech that lifted the South Africa sprit and he burned their passbooks and told them that they shouldn't listen to what the British have to say and to fight for their freedom. Also when the jury told him he had to suffer through jail and he listened to what they had to say and he went to jail without fighting back. In addition to that when people told him that what he is doing is wrong and he ingore them and did what he had to do. Which was fighting for what he believed in. He showed his country that that he loved them by also going to India and see the different parts of India and studied what is going and how the hard ship is like in India. That is a logical raeson of why he cared for India.
2. Gandhi is a great person because he cared about other people in his country even if they were in his face. In 1893 Gandhi went to South Africa and fought for the freedom of the South Africns Because of the way they were treated in Aparied and the reasons that they need their freedon and how the are not to be treated as second class citizen. THE story of Gandhi showed that he wounld have died trying to save his people but also the people in other country. His actions showed that he would help any country in need.
Hi everyone, this is Cesar Chavez. Gandhi went to India after South Africa and every time the Hindus and Muslims were violent towards each other, he would stop eating. They would stop fighting because they looked up to him.
In South Africa, he believed that burning the passbooks that the British forced people to carry was the right thing even thought they kept hitting him.
The Indians would not fight against the British because Gandhi would fast everytime they showed violence.

For example, when the white lady who always wrote to Gandhi came. Gabdhi took her in as family. he raised her as his own daughter. When ever Gandhi didn't like something the Hindus or the muslims did he would pray and fasttill it stops. For instance when Gandhi wanted the Hindus to stop having war with the Muslims, Gandhi fasted. Until the Hindus and Muslims stop then he would stop fasting. Also when he had to go to prison. He told the judge he refuses to go to prison. Then the judge told him he will go to prison and to get out will be a cost of 100 rupies. Gandhi said he refuses to pay the cost. I belive Gandhi was freed.
After watching the movie, I believe Gandhi was a true black indian leader. More people should be like him. They should stand up for what they believe in. Sometimes i thought he was overdoing it when he kept fasting. When he was fasting it was ok when he was young but when he was old he could of die.

After watching the movie,I believe Gandhi was the root of the Civil Rights Movement.I think Gandhi influenced many others in different parts of the world,with different conflicts above their heads.Who would ever think ONE race would split up into 2,because of slight differences.As surprising as it comes out to be,Gandhi took matters into his own hands and handled it like a TRUE leader would.As sudden as it popped-up into his face ,Mahatma stayed calm,cool,&collective and drawn in not only peace because of it but the love of everyone's heart as well[which also came as a surprise]Because of his ways,people all over not only learned that peace was the way to go but also learned that PEACEFUL ways coulf catch the attention of others and get them alertfuly aware of the message you're trying to send out than it would regardind violence.He let everyone know that peace was bold anf reflected succesfuly & satisfying results and was also the right way 2 go.THANK YOU,Gandhi.

Many examples prove that Gandhi faught against injustice through truth and love.
First, Gandhi went on 3 fasts bacause of the violence and rucus goingon in India. People stopped went he went on the fast but when he bagan eating again all the violence started over. The main rivalry was between the Hindus and the Muslims.
Second, Gandhi got arrested multiple times from the British for silly reasons. Finally, Gandhi had plenty of respect from India.
Ganhi was not killed for the fun of it though. People thought not want to follow hom and did not like what he was saying.
Gandhi was a great man and should'eve been well respected from everyone. His legacy will livr forever!

In the movie 'Gandhi' Gandhi fought against injustice through many examples. One would be the hunger strike that Gandhi did to help India get their own independence from the British. It showed that Gandhi just did'nt have trouble with India it showed that he had problems with what everybody was going through over the world. One powerful scene I learned in the movie was how he was such a power in India culture. He was what Nelson Mandela was to south Africa. A thing that was heart felt would be when he was killed by a hitman. Another thing Gandhi did was try to keep all of India from the problems with the Muslims and the Hindus. Another example of what Gandhi did was the salt walk over most of India . That's why Gandhi was such a powerforce in India.

Gandhi put himself/his health in danger just to make sure nothing bad happens. I guess this was a way of seeing if they learn from what they are doing. Second Gandhi marches until someone stops him but his number one rule was to fight with words and love but not with violence and another rule is to stay strong. He always says violence isn't the way to freedom. Finally Gandhi made speeches and burned passports. And sadly he died in 1948.
